Beyond: Two Souls (Cinelinx Review) - One of The Most Brilliant Games Made

Console: PS3 What We Played: The Entire Game, plus several alternate timelines. When Beyond: Two Souls was first announced, I was rather unsure what it really was. They were marketing it as an action oriented title, then slowly crept into it being a story driven title. Luckily they showcased the story driven part more and I became interested in it. This is what the game is, a long story that will make you go through emotions at the snap of a finger. It has its hiccups, but the game should go down in the books as one of the best titles ever made.

Ginx- Beyond: Two Souls Review

Ginx:Cinema. For some, this is the line that gaming should aspire to cross. The bar it should set out to reach. The closer a game comes to being cinematic the better, some claim, it is. Beyond: Two Souls is, by any measure, a cinematic game. A game that boasts stars like Ellen Paige and Willem Dafoe. A game that youd describe first not as a third-person adventure - but as a paranormal thriller; or, if youre looking to get a quote on the poster - an emotional rollercoaster.

Beyond: Two Souls is a remarkable achievement for David Cage and Quantic Dream. The double-edged sword that is the central conceit of Jodie Holmes story is mirrored in the divisive relationship Quantic Dream has with gamers and critics. Forsaking intensive gameplay mechanics for glittering cinematography and pared down controls has both set Quantic Dream apart from the pack and made the studio notorious. Without fail, the developer has sparked intense debate about player agency in a medium distinguished by its high levels of interactivity.
